Nordic Snow Making

As winter approaches, its time to think about areas of early snow and almost guaranteed snow for the xc skier to ski on.  I’ve started to compile a list of ski areas that have some manmade snow, guaranteeing a longer nordic ski season.  Many are in resort areas, but more are showing up in Metroplitain areas, allowing for some in-week preparation for weekend trips to areas with natural snow.  One area that I have taken advantge of is Huron Meadows Metropark outside of the Detroit, Michigan.  A great spot to ski during the week, a short drive to great nordic areas for the weekends.  I would love to see more areas develop trails like their Buck Run Trail.

If you know of any other areas that have manmade snow, please comment oh this page so I can add  them to the list.  Also, The Sleepy Hollow Inn Bike and Ski Center in Vermont has a nice article on how they have created their snow making system.  Check it out their link.
